His words were cut off when the alarm shrieked downstairs.  Instantly, the Chosen were up and surrounding Kira.  Brianna scooted in next to her new friend, her violet eyes flashing in alarm.

“What is it?” Benjamin asked as he switched enhancements, becoming big and muscular.  His strong face was etched in anger.  “Has this Loft been breached?”

“Hang on,” Patrick shouted.  “I’ll go s—.”  Before he’d even finished his statement, he’d blinked out of site.

“I am not sensing anything,” Kira murmured as she stood slowly.  She moved to stand next to her mate.  His growl prevented her from going any further.  If Gallegar had been protective before, now he would be even more so.

Danolas’ gaze was turned inward as, without thinking, he pulled Brianna closer.  “I sense no danger, but something has entered through the wards.  I just cannot tell what that something is.”

“Damn it,” Lucas snarled.  “Where are the protectors?  They should be down guarding the door.”

“They are, my wolf.”  Kira used her inner vision to see what was happening.  “They are chasing the intruder, but...”  She frowned.  “They aren’t attacking it.”

Patrick popped back in.  “You aren’t going to believe this.  He floated over and took his place, before turning toward the stairs.  “I think it’s for you, Lucas.”

The shifter’s jaw dropped.  “Me?”

“Yeah...y’all will see.  They ain’t hurting it because they think it’s coming for you.”

“Son of a bitch,” Lucas swore loudly.  “You’re not making sense.”

“It will when you see—”

There was a crash as the stair door flew open.  A black shape came racing into the room followed by a copious amount of protectors.  Suddenly, the room was packed with people.  But all Lucas had eyes for was the one causing all the trouble.

It was a werewolf.

His were senses went on full alert.  He knew everyone in the local clan and he’d never seen this female before.  She was beautiful, with a graceful figure and dark ebony coat of fur.  Something about her made his body tense in anticipation.  It was all he could do not to shift himself, to see if she tasted as good as she looked.  Lucas had to take a step back, the feeling was so strong.  He followed her movements as she snapped at his protectors.  She may be the loveliest faewolf he’d ever seen, but...there was something off about her.  Something not quite right.  His gaze sharpened as he looked closer.  She turned and glanced at him and he felt it like a punch in the gut.  Suddenly, he knew.

Her eyes were wrong.  They weren’t aware.  They didn't have that human aspect that a werewolf’s did.  He could sense it now...see it as she circled and growled and lunged.  She was a werewolf all right, but something had happened to her.  Something that every were was warned about from the first time they shifted.  Never stay too long in your wolf form.  Always shift back or you may lose yourself and what was left of your humanity.  As Lucas stared at the faewolf before him, he knew she’d not heeded those basic words of advice.

This wolf had gone feral.
